As you may already know, edTPA is a performance-based, subject-specific assessment developed by Stanford University and the Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity (SCALE) and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) that is used by hundreds of educator preparation providers to measure and support the knowledge and skills of their teacher candidates. edTPA is intended to be used as a summative assessment given at the end of an educator preparation program for teacher licensure or certification and to support state and national program accreditation.
Student Learning & Licensure is an integrated edTPA platform provider and Watermark has a considerable amount of knowledge and experience supporting educator preparation providers with edTPA. Having supported many of our clients with edTPA over the years, we understand that this is a high-stakes process that can be stressful for both students and faculty, so we have worked hard to provide the technology and support materials needed to make it as easy as possible.
Below, we have compiled a few tips and tricks on how Student Learning & Licensure helps to support faculty and students with edTPA.
Student Learning & Licensure provides users with access to pre-built edTPA templates that provide candidates with a scaffolded view of the tasks they need to complete and a place to upload files required for each task. This view helps break down each task into discrete, digestible parts.
Each activity template also features a link to download related major resources, such as the handbook and commentary for that specific content area. We continually update these documents whenever they are updated or re-released by SCALE.

Candidates can easily transfer their work directly to Pearson for official scoring by selecting the ‘Send to edTPA’ button from within each task.
After a student has successfully submitted their work to Pearson, Student Learning & Licensure administrators can view the work of the student.
